Traditional Worship

11:00 a.m.
Sanctuary

First Presbyterian Church of Cartersville's traditional service is at 11:00 in the historic sanctuary. In this service you find a very standard order for Presbyterian worship.

The seats are traditional pews (padded for comfort!) and the windows are stained glass. The ministers and choir wear robes in this service. The hymns are sung from the traditional Presbyterian Hymnal. The choir’s music varies from classical to contemporary to meet the needs of a diverse congregation. There is a children’s’ sermon most Sunday’s and there is a Children’s Church for kids 4, 5 and 6 years old . A nursery is available for younger children and infants.

The prayers and the sermon are given from the pulpit, being led by the ministers. The Sacrament of The Lord’s Supper is celebrated in these services on the 1st Sunday of each month. Each Sunday the service lasts for one hour. Traditional Presbyterian worship is orderly in nature, but joyful in spirit.

While some men wear coats and ties and some women dresses, what you wear to the service does not matter. You will see people dressed up as well as dressed down. The disposition of the heart in worship is what matters.
